Colin Dean and BIDST Chair Mark Gilbert
Council member Colin Dean presented his lecture on complete denture systems from the clinical dental technician's point of view on the 8th April 2009. Fellow council member Steve Taylor sums up:
“Colin gave the presentation in his very relaxed style. Very open, honest and interactive. Colin spoke of his career history and explained his decision to enter into studying to become a clinical dental technician. He gave a thorough outline of the course of study which was through the George Bolton University in Toronto Canada. He explained the importance of the different areas of study and related them to how he now treats patients. He proposed scenarios in which dental technicians may encounter medical problems with patients and warned his audience to ensure they know exactly what they are taking on when involved in patient contact, even during shade taking.
His passion for dental technology was apparent and he certainly seems to be enjoying life in his new role. He started the evening with a question was his commitment to become qualified as a clinical dental technician worth it, his final slide thankfully told us for him it was YES.”
